CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

• CUSTOMER MUST BE IN COUNTRY AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
• USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS DUTY-FREE IF:
• Arriving within six months of Customer
• Were owned by Customer for a minimum of six months and are for Customer's own use
• Goods are not sold or disposed of while in Malawi
• Are in reasonable quantities
• Shipments may be inspected

DUTIABLE/RESTRICTED ITEMS

• Items owned less than six months
• Books/magazines subject to censorship

PROHIBITED ITEMS

• Firearms are subject to Police Permit
• Ammunition
• Radio equipment
• Pornographic material
• Plants/seeds

MOTOR VEHICLES

• Value may not exceed K500
• One auto per family
• Auto must have been owned and used by Customer for a year or more prior to importation or arrival of the Customer and can not be lent or sold within one year of Customs clearance

PETS

• Import Permit obtained from the Veterinary Department is required
• Copies of Vaccination Certificates
